Appointments

Our office hours are Moday through Friday from 8:00AM to 5:00PM. Office visits are by appointment only. When you call for an appointment our receptionist will ask a few questions to determine in what time frame an appointment is needed. Different concerns take various appointment lengths. If you need appointments for two children please schedule two appointments. We will not be able to see two children in the same time frame scheduled for only one child. Please arrive for your appointment ten to fifteen minutes early so there is time to check-in. If you are late you may be asked to reschedule. If you are unable to keep the appointment please let us know as soon as possible so another child can use the appointment.

We aim to see sick children on the same day that you call for the appointment. For well child check-ups please call 2-4 weeks before the needed appointment. Children need well child checks at age 1 week, 2, 4, 6, 9, 12, 15, and 18 months. Then they need appointments yearly up until age 6 and then every two years thereafter. Please try to schedule school-age children's check-ups in the spring and summer months when our office isn't as busy.

To care for a child we must have consent of a biologic parent. If you are unable to bring your child to the doctor please send a note giving the person accompanying them permission to seek treatment. If you are their legal guardian, bring a copy of thier legal paperwork with you for us to put in the chart.

Phone Calls

Phone calls are a major part of any pediatric practice. Our office staff can answer many routine questions. If they are unsure of the answer they will speak to one of the pediatricians and get back to you shortly. If you would like to speak to one of the doctors please leave a message and they will return your call when they are available. If it is an emergency that they cannot wait for a call back please inform the office staff.

For life-threatening emergencies, call 9-1-1. If your child has a serious medical problem after hours please call the office phone number. The answering service will take your name and number and a triage nurse will return your call. If you have a blocked line you must unblock it to get a return call. There is always an on call physician to assist the triage nurse with complicated medical problems. For routine questions, minor illnesses, and prescription refills, please call during office hours.

Prescriptions

Prescription refills will be handled during regular office hours, not during nights or weekends because your child's chart is not available then. Your request will be handled in 24-48 hours. Please call in advance if you are running out of medication. Keep your pharmacy phone number near the phone for when you speak with our office. Please note that it is rare for our office to phone in a new prescription without evaluating your child.

Charges

Payment is expected at the time of the office visit. You are responsible for charges that your insurance plan does not cover. You may pay by cash, check, or credit card. Our office staff will give you a receipt. Please ask if you have any questions regarding your bill.
