Appointments

Our office hours are Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm and most Saturdays from 8:30 am to 12:00 pm.  Office visits are by appointment only.  When you call for an appointment our receptionist will ask a few question to determine how quickly an appointment is needed.  Some problems may require a longer appointment time.  If you have concerns about two or more children please schedule an appointment time for each child.  We will not be able to see two children in the same time frame that is scheduled for only one child.  WE usually can see two children together if they each have an appointment.

Please arrive for your appointment 10—15 minutes early so there is time for check in.  If you are late, you may be asked to reschedule.  If you are unable to keep an appointment, please let us know as soon as possible so another child can use the appointment time if needed.

Our goal is to see sick children on the same day that you call for an appointment.  For well child check-ups, please call 2—4 weeks before an appointment is needed.  Please try to schedule school age children’s check-ups in the spring and summer months when our office is less buys.

To care for a child we must have the consent of a biological parent or court appointed guardian.  If you are unable to bring your child to an appoint, please send a note giving the person accompanying them permission to see treatment.  If you are their legal guardian, bring a copy of their legal paperwork for us to include in the chart.

Phone Calls

Phone calls are a major part of a pediatrics practice.  Our office staff can answer many routine questions.  If they are unsure of the answer, they will speak with one the providers and get back to you as soon as possible.  If you need to speak directly with one of the providers, please leave a message and they will return your call when they are available.

If it is something urgent that cannot wait for a call back, please inform the office staff.

For life threatening emergencies, call 9-1-1.  If your child has a serious medical problem after hours, please call the office phone number.  The answering service will take your name and number and a triage nurse will return your call.  If you have a blocked line you must unblock it to get a return call.  There is always a physician on call to assist the triage nurse.  For routine questions, minor illness, and prescription refills, please call during office hours.

Prescriptions

Prescriptions refills will be handled during regular office hours, not during nights or weekends because your child’s chart is not available then to the doctor.  Your request, during business hours, will be handled in 24—48 hours.  Please call in advance if you are running out of medicine.  Keep your pharmacy phone number near the phone when you call the office.  Please note that it is very rare for our office to phone in a new prescription without evaluating your child.

Charges / Billing

Payment is expected at the time of the office visit.  We will bill your insurance for you, but any co-pay must be made at the time of the visit.  You are responsible for any charges that your insurance pay may not cover.  You may pay by credit card, check, or cash.  Our staff will give you a receipt.  Please ask if you have nay questions regarding your bill.
